My Philosophy
The counseling process can feel incredibly intimidating – a space where you’re
encouraged to talk about your feelings, the good and bad, areas you want to grow
within, and more. I want you to know that I understand that, and my job isn’t to
make you feel even more intimidated! I view counseling as a walk on a trail with a
friend. You’ll move forward, you’ll discover new things, sometimes you’ll turn
around and take a few steps back, and sometimes you’ll stumble. In all of this
though, you’re not alone. I’m there to walk alongside with you.
I specialize in working with college students and older individuals, particularly
women, who are facing concerns around anxiety, depression, self-identity and
self-esteem, life transitions, and more. I also have experience and enjoy working
with high school juniors and seniors as well as men. Within the counseling space I
tend to use techniques centered around goal planning, creating action, and
focusing on solutions and acceptance. I’ve found that having an open space
where you’re allowed to discuss what your feelings are, what has and/or hasn’t
worked, and where you want to progress to can help in facilitating growth.
